Bits n’ Pieces

Here are the directions for attaching the applique to the foam baord for framing.

April
1.   place right side of applique face down on table
 2.   center foam board over appliqued piece and  lightly mark corners with a pencil
3.    spray foam board with 505  spray
       adhesive
4.   place the sprayed side of foam board to the wrong
       side of the appliqued piece
5.  adjust the applique by gently pulling on the edges to smooth out the fabric
6.  I use Fabri-Tac glue to glue the edges of the fabric to the back of the mat board, it is a very quick drying glue
7.  run a thin line of glue around the edge of the mat board and glue down the fabric to the back of the mat board
8.  glue  good paper (cut to 7 1/2”) such as scrap booking paper to the back of the foam board covering all the raw edges of the fabric
9.  allow it to completely dry before you slide it into the calendar frame
If you don’t see a class at a time that is good for you just call and I’ll see what we can do to help.  Or get your friends together and we will customize a class for you.
                   July Crow
This is a Buttermilk Basin pattern that some of you are doing for your July Banner instead of the sailboat.  Use this photo as a color guide or improvise from your stash.  The helpful hint for this is to cut the red for the flag as one piece then lay the white stripes and blue corner on top of the solid red piece and not try to lay down skinny strips for the white and red.
I have also been hearing that the wool has been cut a little skimpy for these banners, if you ever don’t have enough, just call and I will be happy to send you more.
